Quote: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." — Philippians 4:13 (KJV)*

A Heart Full of Gratitude

Tomorrow is the day I’ve been working toward. Release Day. Leaving this hospital room and stepping back into my life.

But today, as I sat here, I felt a stirring in my heart. I didn't just want to wait for the clock to run down. I wanted to know—I needed to know—that I was truly ready.

PT hadn't made it by yet, but I didn't want to wait for them to tell me I was strong. I needed to feel it myself.

The Decision to Walk

I looked at my nurse and said, "Tomorrow is Release Day. I would like to strengthen myself. Can I test my strength?"

She didn't hesitate. "Sure," she said with a smile. "If you can handle it."

I asked her, "Can I walk down the hall?"

She agreed.

As I got up, I wasn't just moving my body. I was moving my spirit. Every step was a testament to how far I've come. I didn't just walk down that hallway; I walked through the fear and the doubt.

And I am so incredibly proud of myself.

The nurse didn't just help me; she looked at me with genuine respect. It wasn't just a task for her; she saw the heart and the fight in me. That respect meant the world.

The Lesson: Strength Comes from the Spirit

In moments like this, I lean on the Word. It reminds me that my strength isn't just muscle and bone.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." — 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

Fear would have kept me in that bed, waiting for someone else's schedule. But the spirit of power—the power God gave me—said, "Get up. You can handle this."

This walk wasn't just physical therapy. It was an act of faith. It was me saying, "Thank You, God, for carrying me this far."

Church Came to Me

I missed being in the sanctuary today. I missed the music and the community.

But as I look back on this day, I am filled with a deep, overwhelming thankfulness. Even though I didn't make it to church, church made its way into my Hospital room.

I felt God's presence in the kindness of Dr. Rappe checking on me this morning. I felt His love in the respect my nurse showed me today as I pushed myself to walk. I felt His spirit in my own heart, giving me the courage to take those steps.

God doesn't just dwell in buildings. He dwells in the hearts of those who serve, and in the strength of those who refuse to give up.

Message of the Day

Your limits are not where your body stops; they are where your faith begins. When you trust God to strengthen you, you can walk through hallways you never thought you'd enter.

Question for Reflection

When was the last time you let your heart lead you to do something hard, simply because you knew you weren't walking alone?
