The Battle for the Dosage The first two days home were a fight. The pain was persistent, a throbbing reminder of the battle just fought. But today, the "Forensic Analyst" had to go back to work.

There is a harsh reality in recovery: Because pain killers are on a list of abused drugs, there is a strong likelihood you may receive the correct medication, but the dosage is way less. It's a "Standard of Care" defense mechanism. But the key lesson is this: You must take an active interest in your medication, dosage, times, and pain threshold.

I had to document when I took medication, and why. I had to advocate. I had to show that the medication was this, but it was effectively 65% weaker than what the battlefield required.

With the Lord's help, I once again placed the "Forensic Analyst" hat on. I gathered the data points. I presented the evidence. I didn't just accept the "Standard."

The Resolution: Data Wins. My Data forced my doctor to double one medicine and triple a second medicine.

This was a huge win. It’s the difference between suffering and managing. It’s the difference between enduring and healing. I've been fighting the pain the first two days home, but with this adjustment, I'm hoping this will help cool the pain so I can get back to the mission.

The Support System PT went well today. I showed great strength and knowledge base—moving with purpose. And my best bud Tom came by and helped get things situated. When the Civilian Soldier fights the medical battle, he needs his squad. Thanks, Tom.

Scripture "The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth."Ecclesiastes 7:4

Quote "Thinking is easy, acting is difficult, and to put one's thoughts into action is the most difficult thing in the world."Johann Wolfgang von Goethe¹

Question for Reflection: In what area of your life are you just "thinking" about a solution? How can you stop "thinking instead of doing" and advocate for the change you need¹⁰?
